The Huffington Post Complete Guide to Blogging

There may be some purist writers who eschew the down-and-dirty, bang-it-out, rough-and-ready world of blogging. But for many writers, blogging is a way of priming the creative pump. For them, blogging is a form of writing calisthenics that strengthens their creative muscles for taking on more strenuous projects. If nothing else, blogging is a way of publishing work without having to persuade somebody else that it’s worth printing, and can provide writing samples that may be helpful in getting “real” writing work. And since this is, after all, a blog, it seems appropriate to post about this book.

Produced by the editors of the famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) Huffington Post, The Huffington Post Complete Guide To Blogging is pretty much what it claims to be. Though it’s short on depth, especially when it comes to writing technique, it does offer a comprehensive overview that includes a discussion of blog platforms, suggestions for styling posts, ideas for getting your work noticed, sources of inspiration, tips for successful blogging, a guide for managing comments, and resources to take you further. It also includes a discussion of the new media that may pursuade you that the future of writing and writers is, assuredly, on the web.
